Genres d’à côté is a non-profit organisation created in 2001 to promote the culture of sexuality and sexual diversity through cinema and art. Organised by a team of volunteers from different backgrounds, Genres d’à côté organises a monthly cinema club, a festival (Pink Screens Film Festival), and open debates (« Gueulantes »).
Every first Thursday of the month at the Cinema Arenberg, the cinema club offers an immersion into the world of sexual diversity : gays, lesbians, queers, transgender... a cinematic exploration of the diverse sexualities and life-styles of minorities. With an emphasis on new releases, surprises and quality, the screenings of Genres d’à côté offer recent films, which only have a limited, if any, release in Brussels and which provide a cinematographic spotlight on our cultures.
Genres d’à côté also offer the Gueulantes, a cafe-debate with subjects related to sexual diversity. The public steer the debate launched by a moderator. Therefore, it is up to you, with your good humour, or your bad faith, your sensitivity and your identities, that fuel the debate.
And of course, Genre d’à côté is also the Pink Screens Film Festival in October ! Ten days of pure pleasure, with an abundance of films, exhibitions, debates and parties. Each edition is an opportunity to set off on a tour of cinematographic productions, both short and full-length, fiction and documentaries, from far and wide, with all the dimensions of diverse sexualities.
